Sekaf Ghana uses a unique business model. Sekaf financed the building of the Shea Butter village factory at Kasalgu, provide the women training and give loans to the women to collect Shea Nuts and process into Shea body butter.

To guarantee the women’s income, Sekaf buys back the processed Shea body butter at an agreed price for export. All sales and marketing are handled by Sekaf Ghana Ltd.

In order to reduce the tasks of women producers, Sekaf Ghana have equipped the factory with a semi-industrial machine’s cracking, grinding and filtering machines.

In an effort to fight against desertification, by prohibiting abusive Shea tree-cutting, Sekaf has provided women with education on the sustainable conservation methods of the Shea trees and have also built improved wood-burning stoves and encouraging artisans to become involved with their fabrication.

Packaging boxes for shea body butter exports are also manufactured by the women with raw materials such as glue etc loan to the women by Sekaf Ghana Ltd.
